Assistant Game Development and Digital Media Production Internship
POSITION PURPOSE
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Game Development / Digital Media Arts Production Assistant to support our dynamic studio. The assistant will play a key role in the production and development of our digital media projects and games, working closely with artists and the studio manager. This position is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in the game development and digital media arts industry while contributing to innovative and cutting-edge projects, and will include training in a suite of production pipeline tools.
Interns will work with the Director to develop innovative and experimental digital outcomes using VR, XR, motion capture, amongst other technologies, in platforms such as Unity and Unreal Engine 5.
Internships may have a background in technical production such as c# coding, design, or may have a creative practice background with an interest in expanding into digital processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Game Development and Digital Media Production
- Assist with the creation, testing, and debugging of game assets and code.
- Support in the design and implementation of interactive digital media projects.
- Help manage project timelines and maintain documentation.
- Participate in team meetings, providing input and feedback on project development
Workshops and Events
- assisting event coordinators
- set-up and pack-down of event materials
- cleaning the space
- assist in the promotion and documentation of events and workshops.
- documenting events
General Support
- Contribute to daily operational tasks, including equipment maintenance
- local point-of-contact
REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Demonstrable and informed passion in game development, digital media arts, creative technology. and visual culture
- Flexibility with working hours
- Ability to work well within a small team
- Ability to take initiative and work independently on projects
- Basic knowledge of game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) and digital media tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Blender) or strong digital art background with an enthusiasm to learn
Desirable
- Experience with programming languages (C#, JavaScript, Python).
- Familiarity with VR/AR technologies.
- Previous experience in a game development or digital media arts environment.
LOCATION
Tactical Space Lab, 4 Lackey St, St Peters, NSW, 2044.
(5 minutes walk from St Peters station, 10 minutes bus from Newtown station)
HOURS
From 5-10 hours per week or as available.
